-Bonjour, peux-tu te présenter aux lecteurs ? Hello, could you introduce yourself ?
Jeremy dans le civil, balleronthewall pour le streetart et balleronthecard pour la collection de cartes NBA. Bientôt 40 ans, dijonnais à Barcelone depuis 12 ans. Amoureux de basketball depuis 95-96.

-Depuis quand collectionnes-tu et comment es-tu tombé dans le hobby ? How long are you collecting ? How do you start collecting ?
Comme un grand nombre des personnes de mon âge, j’ai commencé par les fleers et Upper Deck achetés à la librairie du coin à partir de 95-96 jusqu’à 98 plus ou moins. Tout a été bien conservé. Puis en Mars 2023, je suis retombé dedans par hasard via une story sur Instagram de je sais même plus qui. J’ai atterri dans un groupe telegram avec des espagnols qui faisaient des breaks et biiiiiiim.
Like many people my age, I started with fleers and Upper Deck bought at the local bookstore from 95-96 until 98 more or less. Everything has been well preserved. Then in March 2023, I fell into it again by chance via an Instagram story from I don’t even know who. I ended up in a telegram group with some Spaniards who were doing breaks and biiiiiim.
-Te souviens-tu de ta toute première carte ? Laquelle était-ce ? Do you remember your first card ? Which one was it ?
La mienne non, mais je me rappelle de celles de mon grand frère (une énorme pensée pour lui), 1992-93 Upper Deck FaniMation avec Jordan, Bird, Karl Malone….

-Quels sports, quelles cartes et/ou collections recherches-tu ? What kind of sports, what kind of cards or collections are you looking for?
Je suis NBA et NBA et NBA. Je collectionne principalement Jeremy Sochan, les joueurs français, argentins et polonais qui sont passés en NBA. Mon objectif principal est d’avoir au mojns 1 auto et 1 patch (que du associated si possible), numéroté sous /99 pour chaques joueurs de chaques nationalités. Ensuite pour les bases et inserts, que du numéroté également. Pour les joueurs avec qui je peux le faire, Court Kings est la collection principale. Spurs pour l’équipe (tout et n’importe quoi). J’ai aussi des cartes d’autres joueurs que j’aime mais toujours en essayant de rester dans du numéroté et Court Kings.
I’m NBA and NBA and NBA. I mainly collect Jeremy Sochan, French, Argentinian and Polish players who played in the NBA. My main objective is to have at least 1 auto and 1 patch (only associated if possible), numbered under /99 for each player of each nationality. Then for the bases and inserts, only numbered as well. For players I can do this with, Court Kings is the main collection. Spurs for the team (anything and everything). I also have cards from other players that I like but always trying to stay in numbered and Court Kings.

Alors c’est du not associated, carte que j’ai acheté quand j’ai repris en Mars 2023. Mais, parce qu’il y a un “mais”, j’ai pu voir pendant l’été 2023 un match amical entre une sélection de Catalogne et l’Argentine. J’ai eu accès à la zone press d’après match (merci aux espagnols de Dynamic Collectors) et j’ai donc pu parler avec Facu qui m’a gentiment signé la carte qui pour moi est passée d’un patch bout de nappe du voisin /49 à une auto one on one.

So it’s not associated, a card that I bought when I took over in March 2023. But, because there is a “but”, I was able to see during the summer of 2023 a friendly match between a selection from Catalonia and Argentina. I had access to the press area after the match (thanks to the Spanish from Dynamic Collectors) and I was therefore able to speak with Facu who kindly signed the card for me which for me went from being a piece of tablecloth patch from the neighbor /49 to a one on one car.
-Quel est ton prochain achat ? What’s your next purchase ?
Rien dans le viseur actuellement, j’ai ma liste de court kings mais je suis pas pressé. J’ai quand même en tete la rookie level 4 de Sochan et la base Court Kings de Lauvergne hahahahahh
Nothing in sight at the moment, I have my list of court kings but I’m in no hurry. I still have in mind the rookie level 4 of Sochan and the Court Kings base of Lauvergne hahahahahh
-Quel est ton budget mensuel ? What’s your monthly budget ?
Euuuuuuh…..j’ai craqué….

-Quelle est la carte de tes rêves ? What’s your dream’s card ?

-Quel(s) conseil(s) donnerais-tu à un débutant ? Aurais-tu un bon plan à lui donner ? Have you an advice to a beginner ? Have you a good hobby plan ?
Alors je suis encore qu’un rookie dans le hobby et j’ai encore beaucoup à apprendre. Mais je pense que les mots “patience” et “objectif” sont les maitres mots.
Patience parce que comme le dit si bien un certain nikonounoursgrospet, ça sert à rien de vouloir tout, tout de suite, maintenant, la dernière carte sortie de la dernière collection. Tu vas la payer un rein pour l’avoir mais la carte, dans 2, 3, 4, 5 ans, elle existera toujours, elle sera toujours dispo, et à moindre coût (ou pas….).
Et objectif car il faut savoir donner un sens à sa collection, ne pas acheter tout, n’importe quoi et à n’importe quel prix.
So I’m still just a rookie in the hobby and I still have a lot to learn. But I think the words “patience” and “objective” are the key words.
Patience because as a certain nikonounoursgrospet says so well, there is no point in wanting everything, right away, now, the last card released from the latest collection. You’re going to pay a penny to have it but the card, in 2, 3, 4, 5 years, it will still exist, it will still be available, and at a lower cost (or not….).
And objective because you have to know how to give meaning to your collection, not to buy everything, anything and at any price.
-Participe tu à des salons ou évènements sur les cartes ? Do you participate in shows or events on the cards?
Jamais participé à aucun salon mais je me ferais bien le Paris Card Show. Mais pas du tout dans le but “je vais choper/vendre des cartes” mais plutôt parce que j’ai envie de rencontrer toutes les personnes avec qui j’échange sur les réseaux, il y a une belle communauté en France !!
Never participated in any show but I would love the Paris Card Show. But not at all with the aim of “I’m going to get/sell cards” but rather because I want to meet all the people I interact with on the networks, there is a great community in France!!
-Quelle est ta vision du hobby actuellement ? What’s your actual hobby’s vision ?
J’ai pas assez de sélection All Star pour avoir du recul et une super vision du hobby. Bon, oui ça a énoooooooormément évolué depuis 96, la façon d’acheter ses cartes, les breaks. Avec les réseaux sociaux, il y a plein de communauté qui se sont créées, l’échange/la vente est plus facile. Je pense aussi qu’il y’a 2 profils dans le hobby, le collectionneur et le spéculateur. Et c’est ce dernier qui va tuer le hobby…
Pour le développement en Europe, ce serait cool d’avoir une sorte de plateforme comme Comc, comme une banque des cartes où on peut acheter et revendre facilement et à des prix qui sont contrôlés. Parce que les mailsbox US qu’on se fait livrer tout les 3 mois et en ne déclarant pas la valeur réelle pour pas avoir des frais de douanes trop élevés, ça va 5min….
J’ai posé la question une fois, et je ne sais pas si ça existe, mais une société qui recyclerait les sleeves, toploader et autres plastiques qu’on utilisent beaucoup trop….ça serait top. j’ECOllectionne 😉
I don’t have enough AllStar selection to have perspective and a great vision of the hobby. Well, yes it has evolved enormously since 96, the way of buying cards, station wagons. With social networks, there is a lot of community that has been created, exchange/sale is easier. I also think that there are 2 profiles in the hobby, the collector and the speculator. And it’s the latter that will kill the hobby…
For development in Europe, it would be cool to have a sort of platform like Comc, like a card bank where you can buy and resell easily and at controlled prices. Because the US mailboxes we get delivered every 3 months and by not declaring the real value so as not to have too high customs fees, it takes 5 minutes….
I asked the question once, and I don’t know if it exists, but a company that would recycle sleeves, toploaders and other plastics that we use too much….that would be great. I Ecocollect 😉
